Funeral services for Alice Lawson, 63, Olin, were held July 19 at St. Paul's United Methodist church in Olin, with the Rev. Timothy Henry officiating. Pallbearers were Loren Mortvedt, Mearl Eiler, Ralph Brendes, Donavan Switzer, Jay Levsen and Arnold Freeman. The organist was Sherry Soenksen. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
Mrs. Lawson died July 17 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids.
She was born Aug. 12, 1920 near Stanwood to Henry and Florentine Niermeyer Busching. She was graduated from Stanwood high school in 1938 and continued her education at Cornell college, Mt. Vernon and Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls.
She married Fred Lawson at Moscow Mills, Mo. Dec. 22, 1941.
Mrs. Lawson worked as a clerk-typist for the government at Boca Raton Field, Fla. during World War II and she taught for 7 years in several area schools, including Monmouth, Oxford Junction, Wyoming and Olin. She and her husband farmed in Cedar county for 30 years, moving to Olin in 1980.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for several years. She was also a member of the Women of St. Paul's, the American Legion Auxiliary and a long time Federated Club member.
Mrs. Lawson is survived by a son, James; a granddaughter, Jennifer and a sister, Mrs. Arnold (Alberta) Lawson, all of Olin.
