The Monticello Express, Monticello, Iowa, Thursday, May 18th, 1899
The home of Mr. and Mrs. James Voorhees in this township was the scene of a pleasant wedding, yesterday afternoon. Their daughter Jessie and Mr. Frank Hayden were united in marriage by Rev. C. C. Warner. About fifty guests were present to witness the ceremony and congratulate the young couple. Miss Daisy Noyes of Monticello acted as bride’s maid and Mr. Fred Voorhees, the brother of the young lady who was a teacher for one year in the public schools in Monticello. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Hayden, who was formerly well known residents of Monticello. He is now a resident of Manchester, where he is employed in the flouring mill that city. The members of his father’s family were all present at the wedding; and another honored guest was the grand-mother of the bride who is 95 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Hayden left the evening of the wedding for Manchester where the groom had a home ready for the reception of his bride.
