Ministers, Laymen Plan Mid-Prairie Church Council

KALONA - A council of churches is being planned for the area within Mid-Prairie School District and a committee has been appointed to prepare a constitution for the new organization.
Council possibilities were discussed at a recent meeting of ministers and laymen held a the Kalona United Methodist Church.
Services to the aged, to teenagers and more ecumenical work were examined as possibilities for action by the proposed council. Such services might include visitation and hot meals for elderly persons not reached by institutions and youth-parent discussion groups.
Appointed to the committee for a constitution were Lloyd Epley of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, the Rev. Gordon Packard of the West Chester United Methodist Church, Eddie Miller of the East Union Mennonite Church, and Mrs. Logan Reif of the Kalona United Christian Baptist Church.
There are about 10 churches in the Mid-Prairie School District, all of which have been invited to participate in the next meeting at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 10, at the Wellman Mennonite Church. Action on the constitution is proposed for the meeting.
