Iowa City, Aug. 14 – Attacked by a drove of vicious hogs, Mrs. Andrew Meisky was bitten and torn cruelly at her country home near Iowa City. Death might have followed if not for the intervention of her brave little daughter, Vera, aged 6. The girl rushed to her mother’s side and divided the attack of the animals. One infuriated sow, in turn, leaped at the girl, caught her tiny arm in its teeth, and dragged her down. The animal tore at the clothing and flesh of the woman and the child, but the screams attracted men members of the household and neighbors. Mr. Meisky and others rushed to the rescue of the imperiled mother and child, and drove off the beasts. Aside from lacerations and ugly bites, which will take some time to heal, the injured ones are doing nicely now.
