The daughter of Gradus and Anna (Van Den Berg) Klein, Geraldine was born on April 6, 1932, in Pella, Iowa. Geraldine began her life on the farm but later moved to the town of Otley where she attended school without knowing English as her family spoke Dutch. She later worked for her mother at the Otley Lunch, well known for their pigs in the blanket. She graduated from Pella High School in May 1950. In September of 1950 she and Gerald eloped to Unionville MO to be married. They returned home to their respective parents to live separately and obey curfews. It is unknown if they ever told their parents as approximately a year later a justice of the peace from MO came to town looking for the couple as something was wrong with the paperwork and on October 25th, 1951, they were remarried. Shortly after, Gerald was drafted and eventually Geraldine joined him in California. Four years later, Greg was born in 1955, Garland 1957, Grant 1959, Gina 1964 and Gayle 1969. It was very shortly after Gayle was born that the family moved back to IA.

In California, Geraldine sold Bee Line Clothing, selling out her fashion shows, was an award-winning Avon saleswoman. She continued Avon after moving to Iowa and became a District Manager. She found a passion in her wallpaper and painting career. It went so well; she was asked to work at Terrace Hill. After moving to Altoona, she worked at The Fashion Bug. As an adult, Sylpha Hibbs-Snook, her drama instructor involved her in plays at Salvation Army and the Iowa State Fair. She had a passion for music, playing bells at long term care centers as well as her rattle bones at every opportunity. When invited to someone’s home, or for any random reason, she would give small gifts. At Prairie Vista, unable to shop, she played Bingo winning enough to give gifts. Thru the years Geraldine attended the Methodist Church, Unity Church, Science of Mind, held “Course of Miracles” meetings in her home and read faith studies all the time. She was the shining loving light wherever she went and wherever she lived. Her family and friends will miss her beautiful smile.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Gregory Lee (Vicki) Angove, Garland Wayne (Laura) Angove, Grant Clayton (Terri) Angove, Gina Dorene Strickland, and Gayle Lyn Angove; nine grandchildren, Jamie Angove, Trevor Angove, Callie Kramer, Dallas Angove, Bergan Ross, Briar Ross, Madison Grochala, Laine Van Dyke and Allison Angove; eight great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Darlene Klein and Norma Klein.
