John Milton Jones, 83, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa.

John was born on April 16, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Floyd and Helena (Hargis) Jones. A proud graduate of Newton High School in 1960, John soon after married the love of his life, Josephine Brown, on November 4, 1961, in Galesburg, Iowa. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning more than six decades.

A man of many talents and interests, John had a lifelong passion for landscaping, transforming outdoor spaces into places of beauty and serenity. He was also an avid golfer, finding joy on the fairways and greens. Over the years, John and Josephine called many places home, including Newton and Sioux City, Iowa; and Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, before finally settling in Clive, Iowa. His career was marked by dedication and hard work, with roles at Thombert and Weller Co., before he retired from Gerkin Windows and Doors.

John's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Josephine Jones, of Ankeny, Iowa; his children, Darcy (Nathan) Davenport, Stacy (Kevin) Wiederhold, and Scott Jones; and his treasured grandchildren, Kalyn (Jackson) Barton, Sydney Wiederhold, Rylee (William) Onofre, Jacob Wiederhold, Caden Davenport, Samuel Wiederhold, Jacie Davenport, Avery Davenport, and Jensyn Wiederhold. John is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Kittie Phifer, Barbara Dickerson, Jenny (Rick) Reynolds, Robert (Bonnie) Jones, Terry (Marsha) Jones, Sandura McNeeley, and Cyndi (Richard) Keefer.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Helena Jones; his infant daughter, Kaye Lynn Jones, who passed away in 1963; a brother, Ronald Jones and a sister, Suzann Stern.
