AN IOWA FARMER BUNCOED
~
Newton, Ia. Oct 2. – It is reported that a prominent farmer, J. W. Murphy, living near here, was buncoed out of several hundred dollars recently by a couple of strangers. The first stranger appeared and bargained for his farm, paying a small sum down and promising to return the next day and make the remainder of the first payment. In a short time, a second party came and offered a much larger sum for the property, and bargained to take it if the first purchaser could be bought off. Accordingly, when the first stranger appeared Mr. Murphy succeeded in buying him off. The second stranger never reappeared. Mr. Murphy is now out the amount paid the stranger less the advanced money paid for the bargain.
