Mrs. Wingfield, Lynnville Pioneer, Is 80 Years Old
Feted at Dinner and Reception Wednesday in Honor of Anniversary
LYNNVILLE – Mrs. Margaret Wingfield, one of Lynnville’s oldest residents, was honored at a birthday dinner and reception Wednesday at the Louis G. Perry home in Lynnville in celebration of her eightieth anniversary.
Those included in the dinner in addition to the honoree were Mrs. Piercy Brown, Mrs. Hattie Ryan, and Mrs. Frank Dornsbach of Newton, Mrs. Jones of Albene, Kan., Mrs. O. A. Renaud, Mrs. Irene Leafgreen, Donna Leafgreen, Mrs. Ray Ver Steegh, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lewis and Gordon, Mrs. John Hartsock, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Perry and French, Mrs. Elsie Johnson, Mrs. Homer Jay, Mrs. John Lawrence, Mae Perry, Max Perry, M. R. Burton and L. G. Perry.
Open House
An open house was held during the afternoon, with tea and birthday cakes served to those who called. Mrs. O. A. Renaud and Mrs. Walter Perry served, assisted by Mrs. John Hartsock and Mrs. Ray Ver Steegh.
During the reception, Rev. George Wood offered prayer and Mrs. Harvey Gause and Mrs. Will Allee sang favorite hymns of Mrs. Wingfield.
Mrs. Wingfield received many gifts, telephone calls and telegrams from Iowa and other states during the day.

Born Near Lynnville
Mrs. Wingfield, one of a family of 10 children, was born in the Salem neighborhood near Lynnville. She has lived in and near Lynnville all of her life, with the exception of two years in Altoona and one year in Kansas.
She has five children, H. A. Wingfield and C. E. Wingfield of Des Moines, Mrs. F. J. Harmston of Chicago and Mrs. O. A. Renaud and Mrs. L. G. Perry of Lynnville; 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In each of these five families there are three generations.
Mrs. Wingfield is a member of The Newton Daily News’ Three Quarter Century club of Jasper County and the Methodist Church. To residents of Lynnville she will always be well remembered for her numerous quilts.
A sister, Mrs. H. Croy and a niece, Miss Clela Croy, of Newton, were unable to attend the birthday celebration.
