John Henry Koger was born Nov. 13, 1881 on a farm near Mt. Pisgah in Wayne county Kentucky. He was a son of Charles and Mary Hurt Koger.
John was married on March 20, 1904 to Bessie Maud Lewis, daughter of William and Barbara Lewis of *Mirable, Missouri.
Their children were Dean Lewis (now deceased), Roy Homer, Mary Opal, John Vivian (deceased as an infant), Russell Ernest, Donald Efton, and Eva Grace.
The Kogers came to Jasper county, Iowa around 1910. They moved to Newburg in 1925.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Koger are deceased. Their children are scattered. Roy lives in Gilman, Iowa, Mary Opal (Mrs. Lloyd Paul) lives in LeRoy, Illinois, Russell lives in Grinnell, Iowa, Donald lives in Raynesford, Montana, Eva (Mrs. David Gobat) lives in Oak Park, Illinois.
