Jan 26, 1920Mrs. Mary Armstrong was born in Crawford county, Ind., July 15, 1851, and died in Chicago Jan. 17, 1920. On Jan 11, 1874, she was united in marriage to Ben Armstrong, coming to Iowa in 1879. They have lived in and near Maquoketa ever since that date. Seven children were born to this union, three of whom are living: Edward of Jackson county, Myrtle of Chicago and Jess of Waterloo. Mrs. Armstrong united with the Disciple church before coming to Iowa. She later joined the Baptist church of this city. She demonstrated her faith by being a good neighbor, faithful wife and loving mother.
For over a year, Mrs. Armstrong suffered from ill health. In November she went to Chicago to reside with her daughter, and while there everything was done which medical skill could devise to effect her recovery. But all to no avail. She gradually declined until she passed away at her daughter's home. She leaves a husband, three children and many friends and neighbors to mourn her departure.
Funeral services were held from the home, Rev. J. J. Kidder officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope cemetery.
