BROWN, carpenter and builder, Maquoketa; is a native of Allegany Co., N.Y., and was born July 1, 1827; he grew to manhood, and learned his trade there; he came to Iowa and located to Maquoketa, May 8, 1854, and began working at his trade, and since then has been enaged in building; there is no one here, now engaged in building, that has worked at the business as long as he and A.M. Morey. In February, 1861, he married Miss Frances S. Tower, a native of Vermont. They have four children--Alice, Eddie, Earl and Eugene.
