James C. “Jim” Jensen, age 81, of Marengo, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Memorial service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo, with Pastor Sheryll Untiedt officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Inurnment will be at the Marengo Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church, Marengo.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dayle, his children Julie Buswell, Matt Jensen and Dana Jensen, four grandchildren, Caitlin Buswell, Carter (Madison) Buswell, Gavin Jensen, and Mackenzie Jensen; two great-grandchildren, Bexley and Berkley Buswell; his brothers, Douglas (Kathy) Jensen and Michael (Cindy) Jensen and sisters-in-law Carol Jensen and Karen George. Also surviving Jim are many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother John Jensen.
James Conrad Jensen was born February 8, 1943, in Waukeegan, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Enid Tulla Jensen. He graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1961. Jim attended Iowa Central Junior College in Fort Dodge, then received his Bachelors in Education from Kearney State College in Nebraska. Jim was united in marriage to Dayle Ann Kruse on August 27, 1967, in Nelson, Nebraska.
He taught chemistry and physics at Lytton High School and Iowa Valley High School. Jim also coached junior high girls basketball at Iowa Valley. After teaching, he worked at Square D in Cedar Rapids as a safety and environmental control manager for 31 years. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo.
He loved to golf, joining leagues, and played many local courses. Jim enjoyed camping at Hannen Lake, Lake Iowa, and taking trips to Canada to fish. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers, ME TV was his favorite channel along with watching Westerns and learning about WWII.
