Craig A. Hawkins, age 52, of Marengo, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A visitation will be held for Craig from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Ohio Cemetery in rural Ladora. A memorial fund has been established.

Craig is survived by his wife Angela, his son Steven Hawkins, his daughter Amanda Hawkins (Tommy Stecklein), grandson Nash to be born in February 2025; his mother, Doris K. Hawkins, grandmother Judy Lawson; sister Julie Hawkins (Melissa), and sister-in-law Sara Hawkins. Also surviving Craig are his nieces and nephew, Kaleb Lucas, Gracie Hawkins, and Megan Lucas; his uncle Steve Van Blaricom; his aunts Rosemary Marquardt and Rose Strasser; and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father Russell, and his brother Cody Hawkins.

Craig Alan Hawkins was born July 1, 1972, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Russell and Doris K. Van Blaricom Hawkins. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1991. Craig helped out at Whitey’s Oil Company during his high school years. He and Angela Swingle were married on June 26, 2004, in North English.

Craig was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo and the Marengo Fire Department. He was an EMT for the Blairstown Ambulance, a former brazer at Whirlpool in Amana, worked at Williamsburg Manufacturing, and served as security for TSA at the Eastern Iowa Airport. Craig had many interests including joining a pool league, singing “Little Willy” on karaoke nights, playing cornhole, barbecuing, riding his motorcycle, and hanging out with friends to watch Iowa Hawkeye Football. Craig always told a good joke and loved to laugh. He loved spending time with his family, and his two labs, Tess and Sadie.
