Betty M. Graesser, age 88, of West Amana, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Jon Childers officiating. Burial will be at the West Amana Cemetery, West Amana. Visitation: 4:30-6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is caring for Betty and her family.

Betty is survived by her children, Randy Graesser (Marcia Schutterle) of South Amana, Susan (Mike) Shoup of South Amana, and John (Jody) Graesser of Citrus Heights, CA., three grandchildren, Justin (Stacy) Graesser of Roseville, CA., Joshua Graesser of Sacramento, CA., and Erin Shoup of Fairfax; and three great-grandchildren Kenzie and Harper Graesser and Finn Wilding.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy, her siblings, Rose Blount, Sam Parson, Bill Parson, and Mary Conway.

Betty Mae Parson was born October 5, 1935, the daughter of Wes and Elizabeth Muesse Parson. She attended school East of East Amana. Betty was united in marriage to Leroy Graesser in 1953 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a homemaker, later working part-time at the West Amana Store. Betty was a cub scout leader and an avid bridge player. She enjoyed cooking, feeding the birds, her flowers, and she always had a big vegetable garden. Betty loved cooking and volunteering her time to deliver meals on wheels. Her faith was very important to her, and she always saw the good in people. She always put her family first and cherished the time she spent with her siblings and friends. Betty will be missed by all of her family and friends.

The family would like to acknowledge and send a special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Windmill Manor for the care given to Betty while she was there.
