MOSES A. SHEUERMAN is president of the Sheuerman Brothers, Incorporated, one of the old and distinctive manufacturing establishments of Iowa. It is an industry that has been in the family for seventy years. His father was one of the pioneer woolen manufacturers of the Middle West, and from that business has developed the present extensive concern.

Moses A. Sheuerman was born at Marengo, Iowa, July 7, 1863, son of Abraham and Brunnette (Weil) Sheuerman. Both parents were born in Europe and were married in Muscatine, Iowa, having come west of the Mississippi at an early date. Later they settled at Marengo, where his father engaged in the retail business. Abraham Sheuerman was a poor boy and gained his early capital by carrying a pack on his back. Later he took over a woolen business in 1858, an din the spring of 1882 moved to Des Moines, where he continued active in business as a woolen manufacturer until his death on September 7, 1904. His wife passed away April 30, 1899. Abraham Sheuerman had as his business associate for many years his brother, Leopold Sheuerman. Both parents were members of the Jewish Reformed Church, and the father was a Mason and in politics independent. At one time there were sixty representatives of the Sheuerman family living in Des Moines. The children of Abraham Sheuerman were: Manassas, in the real estate business at Lincoln, Nebraska; Moses A., of this review; Rose, wife of Max Schloss, head of a millinery house at Des Moines; Leopold, Chicago representative of Sheuerman Brothers, Incorporated; Bertha, wife of Leon Strauss, member of the Lederer-Strauss millinery house at Des Moines; Mildred, wife of William Ehrlich, who conducts a bank fixture business at Saint Joseph, Missouri; and Jacob, a salesman living at Minneapolis.

Moses A. Sheuerman attended high school at Marengo and Keokuk, gained his early business experience with his father, and in 1884 went on the road as a traveling salesman and has never entirely given up his work as a salesman.
The officers of Sheuerman Brothers, Incorporated, are: Moses A.
Sheuerman,
president; Sol Sheuerman, vice president; Henry Sheuerman, secretary and treasurer. The company has a large woolen mill in Des Moines, employing from 350 to 400 persons in the factory, and have a sales staff of eighteen men on the road. The output of the Sheuerman Brothers, Incorporated, is sold from coast to coast. It is a business remarkable from the fact that they manufacture their own wool cloth and convert same into the finished product of men's and boys' coats and Women's dresses and coats, being therefore a complete manufacturing establishment from the raw wool to the finished garment.

Mr. Moses A. Sheuerman married, in 1890, Emma Riegelman, who was born at Des Moines, daughter of Moritz Riegelman, a wholesale millinery merchant.
Mrs. Sheuerman died April 27, 1906. mr. Sheuerman is a member of the Jewish Synagogue, is a thirty-second degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner, member of the Des Moines Club and Hyperion Club.
