Kandace Zobel Is First Baby of 1968 in Ida Grove

Kandace Zobel greeted the world at 11:05 p.m. on New Year’s day. Kandace, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Zobel of Arthur, was the first baby of 1968 born at Memorial Hospital to parents who are residents of Ida Grove. Dr. Stine the attending physician reported that the New Year’s baby weighed in at six pounds, seven ounces and is 22 inches long. The young lady is the seventh child born to Mr. and Mrs. Zobel. She has two brothers and four sisters waiting at home to welcome her. Her brothers and sisters range in age from three to eleven. As Ida County’s first baby, Kandace qualifies for the $25 savings bond from Ida County State Bank, plus prizes from Pat’s Florist and Décor, Heffron Pharmacy, Moore Furniture, Bo Peep Shop and Drier’s Bakery.
