A Happy Union
Two of our Best Young People Join Heart and Hand on the Journey of Life with the Best Wishes of all
Murphy – Brechwald – At 9 o’clock a.m. Tuesday, November 20th, 1900, at the Catholic church in Ida Grove, Iowa, Mr. W. M. Murphy and Miss Barbara Brechwald were united in marriage, Rev. Father John Kelley officiating. It is always a pleasure to chronicle the happy event which unites two young lives who shall journey together along the pathway of life, especially agreeable is the duty if they are worthy friends among their associates. This young couple occupy an enviable position, and they richly merit all good things that may come to them, their lives thus far have abundantly added to the storehouse of real wealth that exalteth a people.
The fortunate groom is the son of our substantial friends, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Murphy, and a member of the business firm of Murphy & Sons. He is a young man of exceptional mechanical skill, thorough, honest and responsible, and whose moral character is above reproach. Schooled in a substantial home, he has acquired those principals which fill out the full statue of real manhood and we are certain that he will fulfill every pledge given his fair companion.
The happy bride is a charming young woman, the daughter of our estimable friends, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Brechwald, a universal favorite among a large social circle. She possesses those womanly graces which endear her to every acquaintance, and her practical life gives assurance that her home will be all that a noble husband could wish.
Tuesday evening a sumptuous wedding feast was served at the home of the bride’s parents and a more joyous event has never occurred in our pleasant city. During the winter Mr. and Mrs. Murphy will reside at the Brechwald home and in the early spring they will build a neat cottage on a pleasant site owned by the groom in Rohwer’s addition in west Ida Grove where they will be at home to their numerous friends, all of whom join with us in extending hearty congratulations and an abundance of good wishes.
