GERBER.
Ann Wilson was born in Tyrone county, Ireland, July, 1836, and soon after the family moved to New York city. At about the age of eighteen she was united in marriage to Henry Gorman. The young couple took up farm life near Bedford. To their union was born two children, one son who died in infancy, and Emma who died at the age of twenty-one years. Mr. Gorman died in New York. Mrs. Gorman, feeling that she was left somewhat alone in the world, came to Iowa to live with her parents. In 1869, she was again united in marriage to John Wade to whom was born one son Robert Wm. Their journey however was very brief, lasting only one and a half years. She returned again with her six months old son to live with her parents. Again on the second day of June, 1886, the home fires were rekindled by uniting in marriage to C. H. Gerger of Winneshiek county. Their journey together lasted about twenty-four years when Mr. Gerber died leaving her a widow for the third time.
Mrs. Gerber united with the church in the morning of her life and was a lover of the cause ever after. She passed away Sunday morning, March 9th, at the age of eighty-three years, and leaves to mourn her loss her son Robert, with whom she has been making her home of late, other relatives and many friends. She was laid to rest in New Oregon cemetery, the services were conducted by Rev. Lawrence E. Grabau.
Why do we mourn when another star
Shines out from the glittering heaven?
Why do we weep when the voice of war,
And the rage of conflict die?
And why do our tears roll down,
And our hearts be sorely riven,
For another gem in the Savior’s crown,
Another soul in Heaven?
CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to thank the many friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of mother.
