WATERLOO - Donald Alan Lienhard, 92 of Waterloo, died Saturday, Oct. 5 at his home.
He was born Sept. 7, 1932 in Cresco, Iowa, son of Walter and Ida Schorr Lienhard. He married Arlene Timmerman on Sept. 13, 1958 in Cresco.
Don graduated from Cresco High School and honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He and Arlene moved to Waterloo where he worked for Rath Packing Co. until their closure. He then worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, Waterloo, until his retirement in 1994.
Survivors include: his wife; four daughters, Carla Lienhard, Donita (Kelvin) Schmitz, Marisa (Joe) Selesky and Linda (Scott Oelmann) Lienhard, all of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Alison) Weber, Amanda Lienhard, Kyle Schmitz, Donell (Derrick) Werner, Dana Schmitz, Heather Selesky, David (Jennafer) Selesky and Trent Selesky; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; two brothers, Neil (Sarah) of California and Loren of Cresco; one sister, Madonna Davis of Minnesota.
Preceded in death by: a sister, Helen Bateman; three brothers, Travis, Robert and Gary Lienhard.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church with a 2 p.m. graveside service at Garden of Memories Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 138, V.F.W. Post 1623 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct . 9 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, continuing for one hour before the service at the church.
