COURTNEY—NEUBAUER.
The Assumption church, Cresco, Iowa, at 10:00 o’clock on Tuesday, Oct. 8th, was the scene of a very pretty wedding, the contracting parties being Mr. Michael Courtney and Miss Anna E. Neubauer. The marriage ceremony was performed by Father J. H. Courtney, a brother of the groom.
After the marriage ceremony a solemn mass was celebrated by Father Courtney, assisted by Father Mullen, as deacon, and Father, Hawe, as sub-deacon. The music was furnished by the Assumption choir and the altars were appropriately decorated for the occasion.
The groom is one of the prosperous and efficient farmers of Bluffton twp. He is highly respected by all who know him.
The bride is the second youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Neubauer, of Orleans twp. She is highly esteemed and beloved by all in the community in which she lives. She has hosts of friends who congratulate her on her choice of a life partner. She was attired in a gown of white satin trimmed with embroidered silk chiffon, silver lace and pearl beads, and wore a wreath and veil to match and carried a boquet of red and white Killarney roses.
The attendants were T. F. Connor, a personal friend of the groom, and Miss Josephine Neubauer, a sister of the bride. The bridesmaid wore a gown of white silk poplin trimmed with shadow lace.
After the wedding ceremony the bridal party repaired to the home of the bride’s parents, where a sumptuous dinner was served to the invited guests and clergy, viz: Revs. Courtney, of Toranto; Sampson, of Bluffton; Ryan and Landloft, of Cresco; Hagan, of Decorah; Mullen, of Lamott; and Hawe, of Dubuque. The dining room was tastefully decorated with the national colors. During the dinner hour the orchestra played several selections appropriate to the occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Courtney departed on the evening train for an extended Eastern trip. They will be at home to their friends after November first.
Among the many valuable presents this couple received was an automobile present to the groom by the bride, and a beautiful Kimball piano presented to the bride by a brother of the groom.
May their married life be one of sunshine, happiness and prosperity is the wish of their friends.
