Elizabeth M. "Liz" Philpott, 96, of Des Moines and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Valley View Village Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6 at First Federated Church. Burial was Friday, December 2 at the Oakland Mills Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The Kimzey Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, is assisting the family.

Elizabeth was born December 11, 1914, in Hillsboro, KS, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Unger. Before moving to Des Moines, she was a longtime member of Oakland Mills Community Church, southeast of Mt. Pleasant. She was active for many years in the Association of Retarded Citizens, one of the causes dear to her heart. She is survived by her son, Richard (Diana) Philpott of Des Moines; one granddaugher, Katie (John) Mitchell and three great-granddaughters - Lori, Audrey and Natalie Mitchell, all of Waukee; two sisters, Miriam Roesch of Greeley, Co and Eunice McJunkin of Tuttle, OK and one sister-in-law, Mildred Unger of Colorado Springs, CO. Her parents, her husband of 51 years Leroy Philpott, a son, Jim Philpott and two brothers - Orlando Unger and Vernon Unger precede in death. Memorial Contributions may made to Valley View Village.
