LAST LIVERY STABLE GIVES WAY TO AUTO
The Hinchman Barn Being Torn Down For Erection of Midwest Service Building

West Washington Street in particular and the Third Ward in general are being highly improved by the removal of that hideous wooden structure, corner of Washington and Jackson, and which harks back almost to pioneer days.

It has been used for livery barn purposes for a generation or so and was the last of that industry to survive the automobile. As the location was on the Federal highway, east and west, and but a block from the square, it was bound to be picked up by some automobile enterprise and a short time ago, it was sold by Mr. J. B. Hinchman to the Midwest Service Company and the old barns are being torn down. This will give the Midwest a very desirable location in Automobile Row, into which West Washington Street is rapidly developing. Some day a wise guy will purchase the corner lot just across the street to the north and put in some kind of an automobile industry.
