JOHN HENNE
For many years a resident of Mt. Pleasant, well known by our people, esteemed for many estimable qualities, is John Henne, now running a restaurant north of the Brazelton House block in a building he has owned for fifteen years or more.
John Henne was born in 1835 in Wurtemberg, Germany. He came to this country in 1857 and commenced as a carpenter in Burlington. In the spring of 1860, he started with an ox team for California. On his arrival he commenced mining there and soon possessed quite a valuable gold mine. After staying in California about seven years, he came back having made quite a sum with which he returned and settled in Mt. Pleasant where he has since lived.
Mr. Henne, besides his home in the south part of town first secured a business house on south side of square which he run as a restaurant and for many years was well known as one of our business men, always square and reliable as such.
Mr. Henne has been twice married and has had eight children, all living at the present time, five by his first wife, three by his last.
His children are now scattered, except two girls, now at home. One married daughter lives at Billings, Mo., Mrs. Dr. T. R. Loer. Another at Walla Walla, Washington, four children are in California.
Mr. Henne has had considerable experience in farming in Henry county; for five years he owned a farm. His restaurant north of Brazelton House block he wants to sell. It is a fine business location and is for sale at a bargain.
