Yesterday afternoon while a man names Colin Reese, in the employ of the I. C. R. R., was at work under the Rockdale Bridge, a heavy block, in the end of which was a spike, fell upon his head in such a manner that the spike cut a gash about five inches long, severing an artery in back of his ear. He was placed on a hand car and brought to Dr. Rigg’s Drug Store, where Dr. Green was called to see him. The doctor took up the artery and tied it. After the wound was dressed he was taken to the Commercial House where he will be cared for until he is able to return to his house at Iowa Falls.
