Rites held Monday for Bernard Heyer
Following an extended illness, Bernard G. Heyer, died last Thursday at a Mason City hospital. He was 56 years old and had been an employee at the Forest City Bakery until becoming ill six months ago.
Mr. Heyer was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Hamilton county near Kamrar, the son of Conrad and Anna Huisman Heyer. He received his education in the Kamrar community schools. In 1943 the family moved to a farm near Woden and in 1954 to Forest City.
Survivors include his father, Conrad Heyer of Forest City, and two sisters, Lila Heyer of Forest City and Mrs. Albert (Mildred) Cordes of Buffalo Center. He was preceded in death by his mother Nov. 25, 1967.
Funeral services for Mr. Heyer were held Monday afternoon at Calvary Baptist church with the Rev. Richard Hough and the Rev. Edward Woltzen officiating. John and Orrin Torkelson sang a duet and Mrs. Ralph Johnson was organist.
Burial was in Madison Township cemetery with Merlin Downes, Vernon Gray, Floyd Huisman, Marvey Johnson, Richard Johnson and Lawrence Thompson as casket bearers. The Olson-Petersen funeral home was in charge.
