Died – On the 29th day of May 1895, Helga Lee, aged 62 years, 3 months and 7 days. Deceased was born in Bergen, Norway, Feb 22, 1833. Emigrated to America in 1855 and settled near Cambridge, Wis., where he resided 23 years. From thence he came to Britt, where he spent the remainder of his life.
He served in the latter part of the war in Co. I, 46th regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. Mr. Lee was a faithful Christian having united with the church at the age of 15, and being especially earnest for the past 5 years. He was always highly respected and was a good husband and father.
In his last sickness he lay over nine months, his disease being consumption. He was fully prepared to go, as he stated time after time.
He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss. He was buried May 31, the funeral services being conducted at the residence by Revs. Turgerson and Bing, and the funeral sermon being preached at the Scandinavian Church by Rev. Stewart. The remains were taken charge of by the G.A.R. and S. of Vs’. A large concourse of people followed him to his last resting place, the procession bring the largest ever seen in the county.
