OMAHA, Neb. -- Kathryn Margaret Maggrett, age 98, of Omaha, Neb., died early Sunday morning, Nov. 27, 2005, at the Saunders County Hospital in Wahoo, Neb. Kathryn was born Sept. 5, 1907 in Webster City, Iowa, one of four children born to Dr. A.F. and Philomena (Beck) Schultz. Kathryn attended elementary school in Webster City, and high school at Le Mars Central High School in Le Mars. She attended Western Union (Westmar) College in Le Mars where she obtained a BA in English and music. She did graduate work at Northwestern University in Chicago and the University of South Dakota in library science. Kathryn was an excellent pianist and studied piano for 17 years. Kathryn was the former librarian at Central High School and Westmar College in Le Mars, Rummel High School and the College of Saint Mary in Omaha. Kathryn was an active member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Omaha, and was the past president of the Legion of Mary and an active Eucharistic Minister until she was 90 years old, taking communion to the sick at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Francis) Bachmann of Omaha and a son Richard Maggrett of Puerta Vallarta, Mexico; one sister, Marcella Garrick of Boynton Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Sandra (Joe) Foster of Park City, Mont., Lisa (Don) Purcell of Elkhorn, Neb., Joe (Penny) Bachmann of Lincoln, Neb., Jane (Mark) Rollag of Omaha, and Michael (Ginger) Maggrett of Pueblo, Colo.; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents Dr. A.F. and Philomena Schultz; and two brothers, Arnold and Roman.
The funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 65th and Military in Omaha, Neb. Entombment was at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials to St. Bernard's renovation fund. Condolences can be sent to the family addressed to Francis and Marilyn Bachmann, 12223 Crawford Circle, Omaha, Neb. 68144.
