William Imlay was born in Scotland and Immigrated first to Whiteside County, Illinos, where most of his children were born. He died in July of 1907.
We know that he had migrated to Hamilton County by 1887 when his son Elmer was born in Jewell. It is said that he (William) was buried at Bloomfield, but have not seen where he died, nor have record of this death. He married first to Francis Martin in Illinois, they were divorced sometime between 1895 and July of 1897 when he remarried to Clarinda Ellen Dingman-Whaley in Webster. We find him living with his second wife in in Webster City, Hamilton Co, Iowa in the 1900 Census. They divorced before he passed away.
It is said that he helped build the "Old Stone" Schoolhouse on White Fox Road, which was torn down. He has always been recorded as being a Stone Mason.
I would like to know if someone would look at the death record book to see if my William Imlay, Imley, who was a Stone Mason, died in Hamilton County...this is where he was last known to be.
I would also like to know if there is a good quality photo of that old Stone Schoolhouse on White Fox Road that someone could make me a copy of.
Some time back, a relative sent me a copy of a copy of a newspaper article that shows that schoolhouse...Title was "Miss D. Hunt Reminisces" And over the photo states "The Home of The Three "R's" in '68".
I would like a "fresh" copy of that article with citations at to the name of the newspaper it was printed in, and the date of publication.
Please contact me direct about any costs involved and an address to send to.
