Margaret Stover Dead

Although Mrs. Margaret Stover had reached the age of 83 years, the community was shocked last Thursday morning to learn of her death, which had occurred at 3 a. m. Mrs. Stover had lived for 18 years in Blairsburg and although since moving here she has been unable to take an active part in social events, due to her advanced years, yet she made many dear friends.

During her younger life she was always active in trying to stimulate her community to a higher degree of activity, and was always ready and most anxious to lend a helping hand and make burdens lighter for others.

As she grew older she was unable to give the assistance to others, but her strong desire to remove all thorns and scatter flowers along the pathway of others, were her chief ambitions.

Margaret Stover was born in Blair county, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 15, 1831 and died in Blairsburg, Iowa, on December 31, 1914 at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 16 days.

She was next to the youngest of a family of 8 children and was a daughter of John and Catherine Berry, who were born and died in Pennsylvania. She was married in June 1848 to William T. Stover who departed his earthly life of January 25, 1908 at the age of 84. In 1854 she moved with her husband from Pennsylvania to Stephenson county, Ill., where she lived until 1877 hen the family moved to Hamilton county, Iowa. To this union was born twelve children, Ann V., William F., John E., Huldah E., Sarah C., Joseph A., Otis T., Martin E., Ida B., Harry T., Lillie M., and Frank F.

John, Huldah, Sarah, Martin, Ida, Harry and Frank survive their mother. Mrs. Stover became a member of the M. E. church when a young girl and her faith never weakened. Her faith in God, her strong desire to help others over rough places and to bring sunshine and happiness to all with whom she met were her chief pleasures.
