Obituary

Samuel Rowe was born in England in 1848 being 47 years of age at the time of his death April 5, 1895. His family emigrated to Canada in his childhood where he remained until early manhood coming to Iowa twenty seven years ago. Seven years ago he buried his wife being left with four children. His early home was under Christian influence, and when his father died, Samuel being the oldest of a family of nine children, cared for them in the father's stead. His sister says of him "that none can ever tell how much the younger members of the family are indebted to him in the days of their childhood." He possessed many noble attributes of true manhood, possessing a kind, loving heart and had it not have been for an insatiable appetite for stimulants his life might have been a benediction to all. May the Heavenly Father grant that the prayer of a sainted mother for her almost idolized son be not lost, and that the orphaned children be sustained by an unseen power to shun all evil and cleave to all good that their lives may become useful, noble and immortal. His funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Jewell at 10 A. M. Monday, April 8, conducted by Prof. Follansbee, and his remains were interred in Lakins Cemetery.
