From Jewell Record November 3, 1886

OBITUARY.

DIED--At Jewell Junction, Iowa, Oct. 23th, 1886, of pneumonia and a complication of other diseases, Mrs. Carrie Kinnear, proprietor of the Commercial house.

Mrs. Kinnear was born in Sweden, March 24th, 1863, and came to this country with her parents when a child and lived in the state of Tennessee, where she was converted to Christianity in or about her fourteenth year and united with the Methodist church, and finally came with her parents to Hamilton county, was married to M. G. Kinnear at Webster City, Oct. 25th, 1885, and came with him to take charge of the Commercial house at Jewell Junction. Only a few short months was she permitted to enjoy the society of the husband of her choice and her friends at Jewell, when the disease fastened upon her which was destined to end her life on earth. For seven months she was a great sufferer and during all this time she never murmured or become despondent, but bore all her sufferings with patience and cheerfulness, always striving to hide her sufferings from her husband by cheerfulness, when he was by her, fearing to cause him more sorrow. She met her death with true Christian fortitude, sustained in that trying hour by Him who never fails his faithful children. When the time for her departure drew near she spoke calmly of death, and said she was resigned to her fate and trusting in her Savior; and fell asleep in Jesus' blessed sleep to awake to eternal life beyond the grave.

The funeral took place at the school house at Jewell Junction, Friday, Oct. 29th, at 2 o'clock p. m., and a large concourse of citizens of Jewell followed the remains to the last resting place. Mr. Kinnear has the sincere sympathy of the people of Jewell Junction in his bereavement. B,

CARD OF THANKS.

We, the husband and relatives hereby express our most sincere thanks to the people of Jewell Junction and vicinity for their kindness during the last sickness and the death of our beloved wife and friend, and their sympathy in our bereavement, and shall ever remember them with gratitude. M. G. KINNEAR.
