End Comes Monday Afternoon for Mrs. Ben Harrenstein
Mrs. Ben Harrenstein died at her home in Grundy Center at 4:50 Monday afternoon. She had been sick for some time with quinsy and complications. She was 62 years old.
Funeral services will be held at the Stephen funeral home at 1:30 Thursday afternoon and later at the Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center. The services will be conducted by the local pastor, Rev. K. J. Stratemeier, assisted by Rev. J. E. Drake, for many years pastor of the deceased. Rev. Drake's sermon will be in English. Rev. Stratemeier will speak in German. Burial will be in the cemetery at the Colfax township Presbyterian church.
Born in Germany
Mrs. Harrenstein's maiden name was Elsie Ostwold. She was born at Oster Upgant, Ostf., Germany, March 11, 1877. She came to this country when a little girl. On July 6, 1894, she was married to John Sealman. There were seven children from this union. They are Mrs. Jennie Olson, St. Paul; Mrs. Jacob Smit, Iowa Falls; Mrs. Richard Kiewiet, Holland; John Sealman, Grundy Center; Cora Harrenstein, St. Paul; Mrs. Harley Dothager, Grundy Center; and Henry Sealman, who died at the age of 14 years.The deceased was married a second time to Ben Harrenstein on September 17, 1915. There were three sons from this marriage. They are Albertus, Alvin and Edwin, who had been making their home with their mother. Mr. Harrenstein died Nov. 29, 1929.
One brother, Peter Ostwold, lives in St. Paul. One half-brother, Henry Henricks, lives at Grundy Center.
Pallbearers at the funeral service will be Oscar Meyer, Herman Boike, Claus Kruger, Will Hartman, Harold Rindels and Edwin Groenwald.
