A Heroic Deed
~
Des Moines Register
At last we have an editor in Iowa that is a hero. Mr. Tracy, of the Grundy County Argus, while standing on the platform of a train going out of Marshalltown the other day, he saw a woman falling under the wheels, at the peril of his life, and nearly at the cost of it, he sprung to her rescue, and succeeded in doing so, although she came from her great weight very near dragging him under the wheels with her. The spectators greatly cheered the savior and the saved. It was found, very soon, that the woman was drunk. But, as she was a mother, and there was a little child depending on her, she was thereby sanctified into one very deserving to be saved. Another nobler reward Mr. Tracy could not have than their gratitude in which the child will one day hold him.
