Froemming Sells Interest in Store

H. E. Froemming has sold his half interest in the Froemming & Engelkes store at Fern to E. B. Engelkes. The new owner took over his interest last Friday. O. J. Engelkes, who has been in partnership with Mr. Froemming for the past eight years, retains his interest. The name of the new firm will be Engelkes & Engelkes. Mr. Froemming was induced to sell owing to his health, which the past six months has not been of the best. Mr. Froemming expects to sell his house also and there is a deal pending for its sale. Following the sale of the house the family will leave here. They have not decided on their new location.

The store at Fern has been in operation some forty-five years. It came here shortly after the creamery was established. E. L. Pieper opened the store. The first few years the business was conducted in the home in which Mr. Pieper lived and in which the Aswegan family are now living. Thirty-eight years ago the store building was erected and Mr. Pieper moved his store there. He operated it himself until October 19th, 1903, when he took Mr. Froemming in as a partner. The business was conducted under the name of Pieper & Froemming until fifteen years ago when Mr. Pieper sold his interest to Miner Haack. Mr. Haack remained with the firm until eight years ago, when he sold it to O. J. Engelkes.
