ALICE HOUCHIN OBITUARY
Alice Arnold Houchin was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee, Sept. 17, 1887, and passed away at the Fairfax hospital, Oct. 23, 1950, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 5 days.
She united with the Methodist church in her home community at an early age and taught Sunday school class for several years.
She was united in marriage in 1915 to Thomas Houchin and to this union seven children were born: Mrs. Virgil Kerr of Clarinda; Erwin of Watson; Mrs. Willard Sears and Elmer Houchin of Hamburg; Edward of Watson; Thos. Jr. with the armed forces in Japan and Dolores Sharp on Shenandoah. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ed Richie of Shenandoah and Mrs. Harold Mount of Hamburg. Her husband and one step-son, Arlie, preceded her in death. There are eleven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Maggie Houchin of Hamburg, and a brother, Frank Arnold of Church Hill, Tennessee, also several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Houchin has lived in the vicinity of Hamburg for several years. She will be remembered as a kind mother and a good neighbor by the host of friends who knew her.
Funeral services were held at the Johnson Funeral Home, Thursday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Cecil C. Latta. Burial was made in the Mt. Olive cemetery.
