R.F. BICKETT OBITUARY

Richard Franklin Bickett, the son of Geo. William and Roberta Cook Bickett, was born April 8 1893, at Maryville, Missouri and passed away Oct. 2, 1950 at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 24 days.

He was fourth in a family of four boys and six girls, four of whom preceded him in death. He lived in the farmhouse of his parents until he completed his education in the Northwest Normal College at Maryville. He studied telegraphy and accepted a position with the Wabash railroad at Silver City, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Hazel Geneve Vanderoot of Maryville at Creston, Iowa, April 21, 1917. They lived in Greenfield for two years, moving to Farragut in 1919, where he was the Burlington agent until the date of his death. Two sons were born to them, Lynn of Spencer, Iowa, and Keith of Farragut.

During the thirty-two years that Mr. Bickett lived in Farragut, he was always active in civic affairs and for many years as a member of the school board. He also served as Mayor, president of the community club, trustee and deacon of the Congregational church, trustee of the Masonic lodge and chairman of several different charitable organizations. He was a member of the Farragut chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife and two sons; two brothers, Bernard of Shenandoah and Frank of Denver; four sisters, Mrs. Ray Edmundson of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Helen Lackey of Loveland, Colo., Mrs. Homer Dragoo of Denver and Mrs. Virgil Henderson of Birmingham, Ala., also five grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 5, at the Congregational church, conducted by Rev. Geo. Campbell, assisted by Rev. Horace Ireland. Burial was in the Farragut cemetery with a Masonic service at the grave.
