Fremont Wills Book 1
In the name of God, Amen! I, James M. Brown of Atchison County, in the State of Missouri, being of sound mind and disposing memory, lying on a bed of affliction and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, and knowing that life is uncertain and death is certain, do make and publish the within and foregoing as my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all other former wills and codicils heretofore made by me, of whatsoever nature and kind.
I will and bequeath to my friend John Patton my bay horse, Ben Franklin and I also will and bequeath unto him one-third of all my estate both real, personal and mixed, either in law or equity, the remaining two-thirds of my property is to be equally divided between my brothers and sisters, to wit: Samuel Burnett, C. V. Brown, C. P. Brown, Emily F. Herden, Ann, Dan, Laura, Susan and Adaline Brown.
I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend Thomas M. Aull and my brother C. P. Brown executors of this my last will and Testament.
Given under my hand and seal this 4th day of August, 1846.
