THE FREMONT COUNTY HERALD. March 28, 1918. "ETHAN A. ABSHIRE DIED ON THURSDAY.
Lifelong Resident of Fremont County Passed Away After Extended Illness. Was Buried Friday".-- Following a long illness, from which his many friends and relatives were ever hopeful he would recover in due time, Ethan Allan Abshire, native of Fremont county, and for years a resident and business man of this place, passed away at the family residence last Thursday morning. The funeral services were held Friday from the home, conducted by Rev. R. R. Moser, and the body was laid to rest in the Sidney cemetery. The I.O.O.F. had charge of the services at the grave.
Mr. Abshire passed his entire life here and was one of the best known men of the county. A man of genial spirit, honest, industrious and accommodating, he numbered his friends by the extent of his acquaintances, and to this was due much of his success as a business man. Born June 25, 1864, Mr. Abshire passed the 53rd milestone of life's journey last June, and the end of a journey full of all that life has to give came Thursday morning.
One of nine children, two of whom passed away in infancy, Mr. Abshire leaves to mourn for his going a mother, two brothers and four sisters, the father having preceded him across the Great Divide. They are L. P. (Orlando Peter) and I. P. (Isaac Perry) Abshire, and Mrs. Augusta Jeffries, Mrs. Mary Clark, Mrs. J. F. (Minnie) Hellen and Stella (Francis Stella), all living in Washington and California. Besides the brothers and sisters, Mr. Abshire is survived by his helpmate of years and to whom he was married in 1890, along with four children, Millard, Manning, Murrillo and Merril, all of whom have the sincere sympathy of the entire comunity in their hour of deep bereavement.
