Hudson family & Westfork cemetery

At West Fork Cemetary, the flags have been proudly displayed in the past flying on each side of the driveway on Memorial Day celebration.   All flags were marked in memory of a dead soldier.  Two of those flags were labelled for 2 of my uncles, Dale Hudson and Carl Hudson (children of Oscar and Leta Hudson).  Dale died on June 16, 1944 in Normandy, France (82nd Airborne) and Carl died approx. 4 months after returning from the Naval Air Corps in World II when he and someone else were in a plane crash after giving school children plane rides.  No children were on board. 
 
Oscar and Leta Hudson are buried here alongside their 2 sons mentioned above and their daughter Irma who was 15 yrs. old when she pased away from appendicitis. 
 
Oscar Hudson's parents were Harrison Hudson and Flora Kellogg.  Flora Kellogg was an 1885 graduate of the University of Illinois and graduate in art.  I believe that she may have been part of the famous Kellogg family that produced lithographs much like the Currier and Ives pictures.  Grandma Kellogg made 3 lithographs of which she gave one to each of her children.  (Oscar Hudson, Birney Vane Hudson - Minnie Watterson wife; and Hazel L. Morehouse)  Many Kelloggs are buried here that are related. 
 
My father Lowell Hudson is a child of Oscar and Leta (Lockwood) Hudson.  Leta's parents are also buried in Westford (Wiliam Lockwood and Mary Galbraith).  Will Lockwood's 2nd wife was Polly Jordan who is also buried at Westfork.  Will's parents are buried here (Leonard N. Lockwood and Cirene Emaline (Landis) Lockwood.  Leonard was an early settler in Franklin County in approx. 1856. 
 
Cirene Emaline Landis' parents were pioneers coming in 1850s to Butler County in Benezzette Township and were Dunkards.  They came from Carroll County, Indiana.  Joseph Landis of Greene, Iowa was a brother of Cirene (Serena). 
 

I love this cemetary and have many fond memories as a child and attending.  I can see all standing under the trees on Memorial Day.  Curtis Moore a neighbor would attend and he would assist others in the passing of the hat for donations to maintain the cemetary. 
 
I have many other relatives buried here.  As I walked and explained this to my father Lowell Hudson, much of this was a surprise because he was the youngest of 11 children and no one took the time to explain all of the relationships to him as he grew up.
