Missing marriage record?

Royal Lashbrook reportedly married Mary Lamka on July 4, 1880 in West Union, Fayette County, Iowa. A descendant reports seeing the marriage at the end of a marriage record book, in the courthouse. Some how a copy was never made. Now we are trying to locate that marriage record so that we can obtain a copy. Several searches of the marriage records that have been filmed by LDS have been done, and so far we are coming up empty. Anyone have suggestions??
