Note: 1185 does not give any family relationship, just has them all in the same household.There MAY be a birth record in Fayette County Recorder's office. Birth recording happened occasionally before 1880, and was somewhat spotty for years after. Charles may have also had a delayed entry birth record made at some later date.
You might also want to have a check made there for any marriage record of Eliza Roberts.
If John, shown above, was the father, it would have been incest. Or Eliza had an out of wedlock child, and no father was recorded.
The family was located in Auburn township in 1870. There was a probable son, J F, age 17 then. He also could have been the father.
According to the 1870 census, Martha Roberts had married John Dewey in Nov 1879.
