The state record wouldn't have any more info than the county record. Iowa death records contents have varied a lot over the years. The state would have gotten their data from the county anyhow.
Melissa and her husband Valentine were in Stephenson county, IL in 1870 and 1880. According to the census, Melissa was born 1844-1846 in IL to an OH father, and OH or PA born mother.
1850 census Florence, Stephenson County, IL
Miller, Catherine, 37, PA
Rachel, 18, OH
Levi, 16, OH
Louisa, 13, OH - uncertain on name
Ar??ha, 11 OH
Melissa, 5, ILHer brother Levi may have also came to NE Iowa. Possibly it is him in Allamakee county in 1870, then in Chickasaw County in 1880 and 1885. Catherine Miller, age 55, b. PA is living next door to him in 1870. On the 1880 census Catherine is living with Levi, listed mother, Catherine Lee, so she may have remarried.
Iowa cemetery record for this Levi, perhaps you can get an obit for him, or check out his death record.
