OELWEIN - Funeral services for Lylas Hines will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Hintz Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, with Carol Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 9 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hines, 97, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, after a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 22, 1899, in Strawberry Point, the daughter of Isaac W. and Laura (Hines) Carnical. She was married to Almond "Red" Hines who preceded her in death in 1945. Mrs. Hines was a home maker and mother. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hines of Oelwein; a grandson, Allen (Pam) Hines of Watkins; a granddaughter, Vicki (John) Howe of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Almond; two daughters, Evelyn and Leahla; and one son, Marvin.
