In Response To: James Edward Hamrick (Ron M Fauser)

1885 Iowa State Census, Westfield, Fayette, Iowa
Fouser, Rudolph, 23, b. Fayette County
Ida, 29, b. Mahaska County
Hamrick, Maggie M, 13, b. Benton County
Hamrick, John, 6, b. Benton County
(A Nefzger family is on the same census page.)
(Where was Charles who was born about 1874 according to the 1895 census?) (Where was Nettie? When was she born? Was she married already?)

Did Hamrick die, or was there a divorce? County Clerk would have divorce records, check both Benton and Fayette counties.

I'm not related.

I would suggest having land records checked at the recorder's office in Benton county for a Hamrick. Look to see when he came and left, and where he was from and went to. Also might check the Rudolph Fouser/Fauser land records in Fayette county to see if they say where he came from.

Also in both Benton and Fayette County, you might want to have probate records checked in the County clerk's office for Hamrick.

A trouble with Hamrick, is that the mr comination of letters can be read so many ways on old documents. Also it may have been Hamerick, could have ended with k, h, or c, and the a might have been pronounced so as to have been spelled e or i. And sometimes H on documents gets misread for other letters.

Nettie Reed's 1925 Iowa State census say her father James Hamrick was born Illinois. Gives her birth as about 1874 in Iowa. So where was she in 1885 as well? Too young to have been married.

C F Hamerick's 1925 Iowa State census gives his father as Edward Hamrick, with no birth state for Edward.

In 1860 there was a 13 year old James Hamrick living in Henry county Illinois with a Casad/Carad family. This James Hamrick doesn't show up on the 1850 census.

Also there is a family in Illinois shown as Hambrick 1850, Hamrick 1860.
