Hello Eva Royal
My name is Margie Duncan. I am related to the Fox family. I hope that you are related to the same Fox family as I have been having a hard time tracing my elusive Fox family. We are at our mountain home in Arizona and I do not have all my records here. However I will try to tell you what I have.
My greatgrandfather was Michael Fox and his wife was Mary Swift and they came to Dubuque,Iowa about 1848 to 1850. They had children Isabella, Thomas, James, Patrick, and Michael Phillip Fox
(my grandfather). One child died when they came over from Ireland. I beleive your James Fox may be a brother to my grandfather. The James Fox that I have found on the census was married to a Lottie Gillespie from Corn Hill which is near Fayette County and Dubuque. Like I said I do not have the info with me but I believe that one of their children was named Martin. I think that another one was Laurence Fox who became the State Historian in South Dakota.
I have more information if you think that this is the same family. I have not been able to find anyone who might be a distant cousin except my immediate cousins. I sure hope that you might be another cousin and able to add a little more information. I would be very happy to share what I have.
