Bernhard Claus circa 1850's

CLAUS, SCHLEICHER, STEMPER

I am searching for anyone who may have information on Bernhard Claus, my great great grandfather. Bernhard came to Dubuque County in 1850 from Ohio with his first wife, Affra Fisher. Affra died within a few years and Bernhard married Catherine Schleicher in 1856 in the Dubuque area. Bernhard and Catherine had several children including my great grandmother, Caroline Claus. In 1890, Caroline married Nicholas Stemper. Caroline and Nicholas had four children; Philomena (my grandmother), Elmer, Joseph and Hildegard. These families lived in the Sherill and Cascade Iowa areas. If anyone has a connection to these families, I'd love to hear from you.
