Mr. Fred Kingsley was severely injured last Friday afternoon while cleaning a curb-well on his farm, known as the Graffort Estate. He was down in the well, which is about forty feet deep, and had filled the tub with rubbish and placed on top two large rocks. The loaded receptacle was being drawn up by the windlass, and when about half way up the rocks slipped off and one of them struck Mr. Kingsley upon the head. He was stunned by the blow and has no definite recollection of what followed. His assistants, however, not being aware of the accident, emptied the tub and were lowering it when they heard a groan, and feeling the rope tighten hastily drew up on it. The tub came up empty. Again lowering it to the bottom, the rope tightened once more. They wound it up to the surface and Mr. Kingsley was in the tub in a dazed condition and bleeding from a severe gash on his head. He was unable to explain how he managed to get into the tub. The wound is a painful and will lay him up for some time. The gash is in the form of an X on the right parietal bone. The skull was not broken.
