Ryan Michael Smith, passed away on October 13, 2023, in Haslet, TX. He was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ryan was born on November 19th, 1980 in Burlington, Iowa to his loving parents David and Laura Smith. They moved to Minnesota in 1988 and then to Texas in 1993 where he attended Harwood Junior High and Trinity High School. While in high school, Ryan attended First Baptist Euless and was baptized at the age of 16 at church camp.
Michelle and Ryan met the summer before his senior year at Beltline Station in Irving, Texas. They went on their first date on July 4th, 1998, at Bedford Boys Ranch. They dated his senior year and her freshman year of college. Ryan started on the offensive line for the Trinity Trojans (T’s up) and it was some of the best times of his life. He has always cherished his memories, lifelong friends, and coaches from Trinity. As a young couple, Michelle and Ryan enjoyed riding bikes, attending concerts, riding 4 wheelers, and spending time with family and friends. They attended First Baptist Euless and were a part of the college group. Michelle and Ryan got engaged on December 24th, 2000, and were married on June 30, 2001, at First Baptist Euless. They were together 25 years and married for 22 years. Their biggest blessings are their 3 children.
Ryan attended Northlake College and later graduated from CUNA Management School. During his career, he spent some time as a plumbing apprentice, in several warehouse positions, Manager at Mountasia Family Fun Center, before he landed at My Credit Union working with his father-in-law, Mark Massey. He worked there for 16 years and was promoted to President/CEO in March 2022.
If Ryan wasn’t coaching baseball, football, or spending time with his family he was most likely watching baseball or football. Everyone knows Ryan was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan. He also enjoyed golfing with boys (Luke and Lane), his brother-in-law, Tony, and his many friends throughout the years. Ryan never met a stranger and knew someone almost everywhere he went. He was a gentle giant and anyone who knew him loved him.
More than anything, Ryan was a devoted and loving father and husband. He loved spending time with his children. He helped take and pick up the kids from school daily, as well as many of their practices, work, and other activities. He coached both his sons in baseball and football from the day they could pick up a ball. He was the best coach the boys could have ever asked for. Lauryn is Daddy’s princess. He loved and supported her in every single way, whether it was cheer, volleyball, FFA, school, or work. For our family, Ryan was our spiritual leader, provider, husband, Daddy, our rock and our strength. We love him with all our hearts and souls and will honor and love him forever (1437)!
Ryan is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Smith, his 3 children, Luke, Lauryn, and Lane, parents, David and Laura Smith, brother, Brent Smith, sister, Danica Dalla Rosa, and his nieces and nephews.
