Donald A. Thie

Donald A. Thie, 90, of Burlington, died at 3:00 AM Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport in Davenport.

Born June 3, 1931, in Burlington, he was the son of Abner and Grace Hueholt Thie. On March 29, 1953, he married Genevieve L. Drebenstedt in Burlington.
He was a 1949 graduate of Sperry High School and attended farm management school in Wapello for 3 years.
Don was a farmer for many years.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving as a PFC from 1959 until 1961.

He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where he sang in the choir. He was a past member of St. John's Church of Flint River Township where he served on the council and also sang in the choir. He served on the board of directors for Sperry Union Store for 56 years and was a trustee of Franklin Township for 36 years. He enjoyed doing stain glass and made many wonderful pieces.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve L. Thie of Burlington, one daughter, Deborah (David) Stratton of Sperry, IA, two grandchildren, Danielle (Matthew) Huddleston of Burlington, and Jason (Erin Bradley) Stratton of West Burlington, three great-grandchildren, Christian and Ian Huddleston, and Jaxon Stratton, and one brother, Robert (Judy) Thie of West Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Howard Thie.

The funeral service for Mr. Thie will be 3:30 PM Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Brice Hughes officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Mediapolis Ambulance Service.
