Harry Kamphoefner

Harry J. Kamphoefner, 79, a former resident of Burlington, died Thursday, May 14, in Los Angeles.

A carpenter by trade, Kamphoefner was one of the six children of Frederick J. and Hannah Kamphoefner, and was born in Burlington on Feb. 15, 1880. He was the last surviving member of his family.

Kamphoefner was married to Rose Ohle McElhinney, who survives. They had made their home in Los Angeles for 37 years.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harry Buchanan, Los Angeles; a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice Kamphoefner, of Menlo Park, Calif., and four nephews and five nieces, including Fred Kamphoefner of Burlington, a long-time member of the Burlington public school staff.

The body is at the Edward Morton funeral home, in Los Angeles. Burial will be Monday in the IOOF cemetery, at Los Angeles.
